Heeyyy guys!
Funny story about the day we decided to go to Gyeongbokgung Palace. So we woke up all excited that Tuesday morning, ate breakfast, left the house, got on the train for about a 30 minute - 45 minute journey all the way to Gwanghwamun Station. We came out of the station (wrong exit by the way, should have come out from exit 2, closer to the palace), started walking around trying to find the palace amidst all the offices we could see. Then a random thought popped into my head, "Marilyn, did you check if the Palace is open today?"......I thought to myself "Of course! Why wouldn't it be?! But I'll give it a quick check anyway".............it said 'CLOSED ON TUESDAYS' Yup, my reaction exactly. Anyway, we made the most of that day and discovered Namsan park, Itaewon and a few other pretty spots.
After that episode, I made sure I checked the next time we planned to go and it was open YAAAYYY!! As you can see from my pictures above,* there's soooo many, maybe I'll do a picture blog post filled with all the pictures soon*, it was absolutely amazing! We arrived early so there weren't many people there yet. There were 3 palaces I believe, but we only managed to see one. It was 10,000 korean won. We decided to walk around on our own and I just found everything from the architecture, to the well thought out plan of an un-even ground to avoid the glare from the sunlight hitting the ground when walking as well as to avoid floods, just simply amazing!
We then took the opportunity to walk to Bukchon Hanok Village which was nearby. We got lost lool even though we were so close but we didn't know, then ended up taking a bus like one stop to where we had come from to find that it was right there all along loool!
Before we went into the village area, we made a quick stop at a churros shop right opposite the stairs leading up to the village. If you are ever in the area, you MUST try these!! Sooo delish! I got an oreos churros with ice cream and Shanika bought both an oreos and cream cheese churros with ice cream. I believe it was 4,500 - 5000 korean won.
We also came across this handmade perfume shop in the Bukchon Hanok Village. I love the natural presence it has as soon as you walk in and the fragrances smelt so lovely both myself and Shanika got one each. They also have an essential oils section upstairs, again handmade. I had wanted to buy some peppermint oil, so I made my purchase. Good thing was that it was 100% pure peppermint oil, so it literally requires one drop in a relatively large jug of water.
I know, I know, super long post right? But don't lie, you enjoyed it! On that note......I'll leave it here for today.
Speak Soon. X
